Welcome to Miss Walker's class

  • What's coming up this term?

Welcome back everyone!  It is so lovely to meet the new children of year 2. It sounds like everyone has had a brilliant summer and the children have returned to school ready to work hard.

This term we are looking forward to exploring our new topic, Superheroes.

Our enquiry question for this term is:

    What makes a superhero?

During the autumn term we will be writing for a variety of purposes.

Whilst studying superheroes we will be looking at different types of superheroes and their settings, writing character descriptions and innovating our class text "Supertato" to create our own superhero stories.

In maths, we will be focussing on Place Value.  We will also cover the following operations,

We will also investigate fractions we will identify different fractions and find and compare fractions of amounts.

Our science topic for this term the Human Body and our senses.

During these topics we will be naming and locating the parts of the human body, learning the importance of exercise, diet and good personal hygiene. We know superheros have amazing senses such as x-ray vision therefore will also be investigating our 5 senses -  sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste.

During our scientific investigations we will be carrying out simple comparative tests, finding things out using secondary sources of information and asking questions about the results of our investigations.

We enjoyed playing

'Body Bingo!'
