Welcome to Miss Walker's class

  • What's coming up this term?

The children have had a fantastic start in year two and have been enjoying their learning. This term we have enjoyed our topic Superheroes and will continue with this.  Our enquiry question for this term is:

    What makes a superhero?

Literacy

During the first part of our Autumn term, we have written a story and a set of instructions. This was all based around our Literacy text "Supertato".

We will be moving onto more narrative, character desciptions and letter writing for the rest of the autumn term. Our new Literacy text will be "Elliot the midnight superhero". This links really well to a current and popular superhero show, "PJ masks!" We can't wait to think of more fantastic story writing ideas.

Maths

In maths we will continue to focus on the 4 operations:

Addition

Subtraction

Multiplication

Division

We will be expanding our knowledge of fractions and looking at them in a variety of contexts.

In topic maths we have loved exploring measurement and money.

Science

The first part of the Autum term led us to think about the human body and our senses. We have really enjoyed taking part in 'body fact or body fiction' investigations. Did you know that your forearm is the same length as your foot? Our knowledge of maths and measure really helped us with this!

In the second part of the Autumn term, we will be exploring materials and their properties.

We wonder which material will be best to make a superhero costume for Elliot?
