Welcome to Mrs Dodsworth's class

What's coming up this term?

Welcome back everyone!  It is so nice to see everyone after the Easter holiday and the children have returned to school ready to work hard this term.

This term we are looking forward to exploring our new topic which focuses on geography and an Australian adventure!

During the Summer term we will be researching many Australian animals.  We will use the information to write letters to support our adoption of the quokka.

Our research will help us to write fact files in order to educate other children in the school about various Australian animals.

We will also read  some Aboriginal dream time stories and invent our own.

In maths, we are going to be using our Australia topic as a focus for problem solving and investigations.  To begin with this term we will study fractions, time and measures.  We will also cover the following operations,

Whilst investigating fractions we will identify different fractions and find fractions of amounts and fractions of shapes.

Our science topic for this term is Materials.  We will be launching our science topic with a trip to the Magna science musuem in Sheffield.

During this topic we will be using our knowledge of materials and their properties in order to help us to make predictions and choose suitable materials for a specific purpose.

During our scientific investigations we will be carrying out simple comparative tests, finding things out using secondary sources of information and asking questions about the results of our investigations.
